The Delta State Governement has warned contractors handling Government projects against delivering shabby jobs or face being sanctioned.This warning was made by the State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mrs Gbubemi Ikolo, during her inspection of approved site for a Technical College in Asaba, the state capital.Mrs Ikolo who was accompanied on the inspection by the consultant, Mr Andy Imafidon, acting permanent secretary ministry of technical education, Mr Megboma Vincent, assistant director PRS, Dr Joyce Ogu, and special assistant, Mr Cyprian Nosegbe, said gone are the era when contractor think more of their selfish interest when handling Governement projects, and charged contractors who are to handle projects in the construction of the Nineteen Technical Colleges to have a rethink if they are having any mind of delieving a below standard and specification work.She stressed that the state Government under the leadership of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is putting so much resources and funds in making the establishment of the Technical Colleges come to pass, warning that any contractor who fails to work according to specification or try to beat corner will be sanctioned, and won’t be awarded any Government contract again.The commissioner explained that a surveyor will be brought to the site soonest, to enable them get a clear map of the college, adding that those occopying the land space illegally will be asked to evacuate immediately, as the commencement of the project will kick start soon.Mrs Ikolo explained further that the state Governement is aiming at constructing a Modern Technical College in all Local Government Area of the state, that will not only produce students who will become self-reliant, but will also be enviable to all.
