 GOVERNOR OKOWA ASSURES OF BETTER FUTURE FOR YOUTHS IN THE STATE THROUGH TECHNICAL EDUCATION

The state Governor Dr ifeanyi Okowa has stressed that the aim of giving youths in the state a better function remains a top priority to the state Government.
Governor Okowa stated this when the provost and staffs of Federal College of Education Technical, Asaba, paid a courtesy visit.
The state commissioner for Technical Education Mrs Gbugbemi Ikolo, who received the provost and staffs of Federal College of Education Technical Asaba, on behalf of the state Governor Dr ifeanyi Okowa, said the state Government has mapped out various of empowering youths in the state, and is now creating measures of helping them to become self-reliant and build a good future for themselves through Technical Education.
The Governor stressed that the state is moving with the present trend of the developed countries, and informed them that the state Government will be empowering last set of graduating students from the six technical colleges who they well, to enable them use the skills acquired to better their lives, adding that it will be a continuous gesture through the ministry of Technical Education.
He assured that the state government through the ministry of Technical Education will continue to partiner with the Federal College for Technical Education to build and help the youths acquire skills that they can use to better their future and take them away from criminal vices.
Senator Okowa further appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their children to attend Technical College close to them for them to learn skills, adding that the commencement of the first phase of the approved construction of Nineteen technical colleges across the state will soon commence.
Earlier, the provost of the Federal College of Technical Education, Asaba, Dr Josephine Anene-Okeakwa said the purpose for the visit is to first present the new officers of the federal college to him, and secondly to praise and congratulate him for the wonderful move of creating the Ministry of Technical Education in the state which she said is second to known.
While stressing the importance of Technical Education, Dr Anene-Okeakwa said with Technical Education, the employment rate will be reduced as youths with skills to better their lives will be produced yearly, which will also reduce youths on the streets.
While also narrating some challenges facing the federal college, she informed that the Federal College of Technical Education Asaba is ready to help train students who pass out from the state technical colleges as their own way of supporting the state Government and the youths.
A gift was then presented to the state Governor Dr ifeanyi Okowa, which was received on his behalf by the state commissioner for Technical Education Mrs Gbugbemi Ikolo.
