The State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. (Mrs) Gbubemi Ikolo has assured of the state Government commitment in ensuring the success of Technical Education in the state.Mrs Ikolo gave the assurance when she paid a visit to the Issele-uku Technical College, in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The Technical Education Commissioner, while speaking with staffs of the college, said the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is very particular and interested in taking Technical Education in the state to a great standard which is shown through the creation of the Ministry of Technical Education.
She said she was at the college to get first hand knowledge of the college and their challenges, and also familiarize with them to enable them and the ministry achieve the set goal of the state Governor.
The former first member SUBEB, praised their zeal to work, and appealed to them to remain committed to duty, and always put the education of the student first.
The Commissioner inspected the various departments including Building, Welding and Fabrication, ICT, Typing, Library etc.She assured that the ministry will see to the various challenges of the college, specially fencing of the college and more classroom blocks to carter for the 749 students in the college.
Speaking on behalf of staffs of Issele-uku Technical College after the inspection, Mr Emefine appreciated the Technical Education Commissioner, Mrs Gbubemi Ikolo for her visit, adding that with just days to the creation of the ministry she has started work, goes to show her commitment to succeed in the assignment given to her by the state Governor.
He further appreciated the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for creating the ministry, adding that is has being their prayer , and also assured of total cooperation from staffs of the college.
Mr Emefine added that with the creation of the Ministry of Technical Education, the technical colleges is now save from the challenges students faces during examination, as questions are always set on the secondary school scheme which is outside the Technical Education scheme.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the ministry’s acting PS, Mr Vincent Magboma, Assistant Director, Dr Joyce Ogu, and Director Finance and Account, Mr Asumah Anthony.
